Xtrend ET8500 – new form factor for a receiver
Xtrend has lifted the covers of the new ET8500 which looks more like a Home Theater PC than a satellite receiver. It has the dimensions 180 x 200 x 83.
On the front of the ET8500 we find a big 4.3″ LCD 32 bit full color display which can be used for watching television but also EPG, HBB TV and websites.
On the side there is easy access to install a hard drive. Simply slide the HDD bracket in. Also located at the side are 2 card readers an a CI slot along with an USB port.
On the rear there are room for 4 plug and play tuners (DVB-S2/C/T2), a Gigabit Ethernet port, two USB ports and an eSATA interface and of course HDMI out.
The ET8500 is powered by a Broadcom processor which operates at 1.3 GHz, along with 1 GB RAM and 512 MB of flash memory.
What do you think about this receiver? Is the display really useful?
